The weekend saw all manner of outfits, hairdos, greetings and posing at London Fashion Week. Designers have been showcasing their SS/14 collections since Friday and there are some great highlights already coming off the catwalks.

There is a strong Turkish influence coming off the runways from some great Turkish born designers including Bora Aksu and Zeynep Tosun. There are also some nods towards what we’ll all be buying once the warm weather comes around again. No doubt maxi dresses and skirts, midriffs and varsity styles are here to stay for another season.

Turkish born designer Zeynep Tosun will no doubt soon be on on the collaboration list at Topshop after this SS/14 collection. It featured pale hues and simple silhouettes with silk and mesh being the order of the day when it came to fabrics. Her Turkish roots combined with street wear to create something that any hipster would covet.

Fyodor Golan’s, ‘Electric Children’, one of the first shows of LFW set the tone for the months to come. It looks like we can expect more pastels and a movement towards both a smart and casual look, somehow simultaneously.

Punchy bare midriffs suits strutted down the catwalk followed by large, varsity style print jumpers coupled with long skirts.

Mark Fast, always a favourite looked, like he had been taking tips from Rihanna’s River island collection with his SS/14 showing. More bare midriffs and tight mid thigh length skirts in matching patterns  were shown coupled with messy hair and shades. I reckon you’ll see pretty close copies of these pieces in a good few high street shops in a couple of weeks.

Finally Bora Aksu reminded us that we are all little girls that love big dresses at heart with some wonderful floor length, lace edges gowns in bright yellows and fuchsia pinks and whites. Aksu celebrates 10 years in fashion this season and brings yet more Turkish vibes to the London catwalks with his block colour offerings mimicking the scorching Turkish summers.

New York Fashion Week is more than what you see on the runway — it’s about what happens behind the scenes, after hours, and on the streets outside of Lincoln Center. In addition to the pros it takes to pull off a runway show — designers, models, makeup artists, hairstylists, manicurists, sound engineers, lighting crews, caterers, security — there’s also a frenzy of journalists, bloggers, photographers, fashionistas, celebs and fans buzzing about the event. Fashion editors Joanna Douglas and Jennifer Fox of Yahoo Shine caught these players in their element, as did members of our various Fashion Week groups. So live vicariously, and enjoy your front-row seat to Fashion Week!

Kate Moss took her place on the front row for London Fashion Week to see the show from Topshop, owned by her friend Philip Green.

Sitting with Green, his son, Brandon, and US Vogue editor Anna Wintour, Moss saw Cara Delevingne model the brand’s spring/summer collection.

And if there’s one thing you can count on with Topshop, it’s that they anticipate what women want before they even know they want it.

For winter, that meant pink coats, tactile fabrics and upscaled proportions but come next spring, it’s predicting you’ll want something completely different.

Head of design Emma Farrow was inspired by the wild heady days and endless freedom of summer, which translates into a collection of relaxed, fuss-free pieces that would be just as good on a relaxed Saturday in the city as they would on the beach in a far-flung destination.

The effortlessly sexy sundress is the item you’ll want to snap up come spring.

Darrow offered barely there styles with spaghetti straps at the back which, while modest from the front, revealed the best part of the models backs.

The rest of the collection furthered that undone feeling. Slouchy denim, frayed jackets and loose-fitting printed trousers appeared while the combination of cracked file prints on transparent voiles and precious gazer silks will have you longing for next summer’s warm weather already.
